PLAN THE VOID BEFORE THE POUR

Deep pour epoxy calculator

Estimate mixed resin for a rectangular river or round casting cavity. Allocate layers only after checking your exact product limits.

METRIC & US UNITS

Example measurements. Replace them with your own project values.

LengthWidthFill depth
Measure the space resin fills, excluding the surrounding wood.
Subtract known displaced volume Optional

Nonzero displacement disables layer quantities because its depth distribution is unknown.

Allocate uniform layers Optional

Uniform empty cross-section only. These are geometric quantities; they do not confirm safe batch sizes or specify recoat times.

Split Part A and Part B Optional · by volume
Product mixing ratio BY VOLUME
:

Enter both numbers from your exact product instructions. For a weight ratio, use the known-weight mixing calculator; this tool does not assume density.

How much epoxy does a deep pour need?

Calculate the empty space you intend to fill, rather than the outside dimensions of the finished table or casting. For a rectangular river, use the river length, its representative width and intended fill depth. For a cylindrical casting, enter the inside diameter and fill depth.

Rectangle: length × width × depth. Round cavity: π × (diameter ÷ 2)² × depth. Dimensions in centimetres give a result in mL. Inch dimensions are converted using 1 in = 2.54 cm before calculating.

RECTANGULAR RIVER EXAMPLE

100 × 10 × 5 cm = 5 L

With a chosen 10% allowance, plan 5.5 L of combined resin + hardener. If your exact product specifies 2:1 by volume, that is approximately 3.667 L Part A and 1.833 L Part B. The example ratio and allowance are not product recommendations.

Optional layers: quantity planning, not a safe-pour recommendation

If you have confirmed a maximum layer depth from the instructions for your exact formulation, project size and conditions, enter it in the optional layer planner. A uniform 5 cm deep empty cavity with an entered 2 cm limit has three geometric layers: 2 cm, 2 cm and 1 cm. In the example above, their mixed amounts including 10% extra are 2.2 L, 2.2 L and 1.1 L.

That allocation does not establish whether a layer can be mixed in one container or poured in one batch. Epoxy cure generates heat; product limits can depend on total mass, depth and temperature. Recoat timing and preparation are product-specific. Follow the current instructions and safety data for the exact resin you use.

River tables, inserts and irregular cavities

Measure the void between the wood pieces; do not enter the full tabletop width and then subtract the same wood again. For an irregular river, a single rectangular width is an approximation. Measure separate sections with the multi-mold batch calculator, or use its Known volume option when you have a reliable cavity volume.

The displacement field subtracts a known volume occupied by submerged inserts. It does not derive displacement from an object’s weight. Layer volumes are unavailable when displacement is nonzero, because the tool does not know how the object is distributed between layers.

Can I use a tabletop resin for a deep pour?

Product suitability comes from the manufacturer. A coating formulation and a casting formulation can have different depth and batch limits; the name “epoxy” is not enough to choose between them. For a thin surface coating instead of a cavity fill, use the table top epoxy calculator.

Manufacturer guidance

These references explain why depth, pour size and conditions need to be checked separately from total volume. They are not universal presets for this tool.
